Fetchmail, procmail, dovecot are the three other things I use for that sort of situation. Fetchmail pulls in the mail from the ISP. It feeds off directly to procmail. Procmail feeds the mail through SpamAssassin for markup. Then procmail feeds it off to the standard /var/spool/mail/XXX mailboxes.
