What can one say about the office software which is unable to open its own

Why do you say it won't open stuff from back then? I don't have any
files from then handy, but
I regularly use AOO to open files built in the 1990s, without any problems.
Some are complex, convoluted whoppers (such as one 300+ page book that has a
great many format & font shifts, photos, tables, etc).

Well, the current version can save in OO 1.0 formats, so it seams
unlikely that it can't read them.properly. Can you provide some
examples to back up what you claim?

Does this program open documents with a .doc extension? I am using the free

I have used Open Office for many years. In attempting to get the latest
version SourceForge was the defacto mirror. That download included a nasty
piece of software from "conduit" which takes over my computer. Went to
another mirror site and cannot open the download. I am on a Mac and have

Apache OpenOffice handles this through sourceforge, we dont include
any other application besides the Apache OpenOffice dmg file for OSX.
Please verify you download from the official download page
http://www.openoffice.org/download
URL should be

Usually you will find the dictionaries, thesarus etc at the invisible
folder
.openoffice/4/user/extensions/tmp/extensions/sv496ohf.tmp_/dict-en.oxt/th_en_US_v2.dat
you could try (if you dont have heavy configuration) just deleting
your .openoffice folder

Thanks for opening a bug on this. I don't understand the comment from
