I am trying to get spell check to work. I have twice downloaded
OpenOffice 4.01 operating under Windows

You'll need some file recovery utility to do that.

Well that's not much information to work with.
First how did you copy and paste within OpenOffice or in you Operating
System?
What Operating System do you use?
What version of OpenOffice do you use?
How are your backup settings within OpenOffice?
What has Google to do with it?

I copy and pasted an important paper and I erased it, as I knew I had it
copied.
After, I forgot and copied another image in Google…
I need that first copy and paste back. Can you help me.

Couple of comments:
1. If you are not able to solve your problem based on the provided

Go to Menu->Format->Page and make selections. This will set your basic
page size and layout.
For space between paragraphs, etc. go to Menu->Format->Paragraph and make
your selections.
If you want to format characters do the same as above two steps:
Menu->Format->Characters.
