deleting email attachments in Evolution

Has anyone tried the "remove attachments" feature in Evolution? I find that it simply deletes the whole message (a totally unacceptable behaviour). From time to time, you want to keep an message where someone has mailed you a file, but don't want the file wasting hard drive space. It'd be nice
