Is tribar installed? The plymouth set-default does nothing if the theme
isn't installed.
Anyone know what the plymouth initrd on /boot is for?

nitramfs with dracut?

Should it be of any interest Plymouth changed the splash screen
displayed in a VM of Fedora 28 beta on this computer without any problems!
I will wait until I have the new fedora 28 installed. I tried all the

However, I have tried changing the plymouth boot theme myself a couple

Joe is exactly right, the man pages are good enough if you already
have some familiarity with a command, but for something new to me they
always seem to lack an example of the command I need. It is often
situation, just run "dracut -f".

The problem with some man pages is that they're written in an overly
terse fashion as though they're just meant as a reminder for people who

Did you try regenerating the initramfs

On this updated Fedora 27 with XFCE I have attempted to change the
Plymouth screen several times, re-booted each time, and it always comes
back with the same theme, I think it is called "spinner." I have another
similarly configured computer and the same procedure worked without any
problem

For the last several versions of Fedora, back to F-22 and probably
before that, when I starttxfce the xffce splash screen I selected is
displayed for less than a second and immediately replaced by an ugly
gray screen with a "spinning worm" in the center that just does nothing
I had plymouth configured to use the solar theme in F20 and when I used
Fedup to upgrade to F21 plymouth did not retain the theme specification.
I used command plymouth-set-default-theme solar --rebuild-initrd to set
the theme back to what I want but this has not worked. The command did

Can someone point me to the proper documentation to use alternate splash screen
during boot? I want to use the solar theme from fc10, rather than the boring
default. My search seems to lead me to tidbits but not a "this is how it works"
document.
