Google results for "xorg hangs Sandybridge i915" turn up a whole lot of

BIOS was responsible for the problem. Have you updated yours?
Has this system ever run a Linux distribution that didn't hang/crash?

I already thought it was some hardware issue, so I changed memory but still
that doesn't explain why windows works without crashing for days when
fedora freezes after 2-5 days. So my guess is that it is still a kernel
issue.

How about just installing a plain vanilla 3.6.11 or 3.7.1 from

After latest updated my system finally has uptime more than 7 days! That

I looked at latest updates my guess is that latest kernel update is "to
blame" for my system not freezing anymore:

I am not familiar with the features of Sandy Bridge architecture, but
there might be a couple of things you could try. If the system runs
throughout the day and you are experiencing the problem at night, are
there any services you can disable or adjust to see if you can isolate

It could be that your box is stuck in DPMS off mode and the video card
