FWIW, I was "wrong". I just had the hangs occur again. However my hunch, in my case, seems still "correct". When I restarted the system immediately after the hang I saw this.... [egreshko@meimei ~]$ sensors nouveau-pci-0100 Adapter: PCI adapter temp1: +112.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +110.0°C) coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 0: +37.0°C (high = +82.0°C, crit = +98.0°C) Core 1: +37.0°C (high = +82.0°C, crit = +98.0°C) Core 2: +37.0°C (high = +82.0°C, crit = +98.0°C) Core 3: +43.0°C (high = +82.0°C, crit = +98.0°C) Cleaned out its fan and heat sink.... Didn't have any thermal grease and will have to redo it when I get some....
