If version needs to be frozen after install, it can be added to the dnf exclude

Hi Roger,
Have you tried using OpenJDK that is available in Fedora? It has a fully
functional Web browser plugin (via icedtea-web package) that works with
Firefox and Chrome out of the box.
What document are you u
nds on components installed by the OpenJDK
RPMs. The only way it would be removable is if you use a wrapper RPM to
install the Oracle JDK such that it provides the necessary java*
dependencies.

java-1.6.0-openjdk and java-1.7.0-openjdk can co-exist side by side

The original intent was to make 7 the default in F16, but we had to
abandon that approach after discovering multiple package build failures
with 7. Since building some packages with 7 and some with 6 would break
compatibility, we decided to stay with 6 as default.

The java plug-in has always been controlled by a separate alternative
than java/javac. AFAIK, libjavaplugin.so[.x86_64], java and javac are
the only alternatives you need to manage. Those are the master
alternatives that control the remaining ones.

however that the plugin is not provided by that RPM. It is provided by

Erik, which was the last build you tried? I think it is worth

of many applets makes it quite challenging -- impossible in some cases
without decompiling their code, which is something we cannot do.
