I didn't say it didn't. But the original tool is "pathchar" brought to you
by the same team who made tcpdump, netstat and libpcap among others. It is
only for Unix. "pchar" is a port of pathchar. I go for originals. ;-)

I've connected to their SMPP gateway time ago (5 years). Not sure if they've
changed anything in the meantime, but you shouldn't have any issues with it.
Kannel is fully SMPP 3.4 compliant and the SVN version supports the optional
parameters (which is the only "custom" thing you'd expect to find in
That depends on which carrier do you ask, but yes I agree, many of them
require system-type to be treated as a "fatal" error and not retried.
Imho should be a configurable option or a compile switch at least.

I concur. max-pending-submits would improve performance on high-latency
scenarios. It's your best bet.
You could also try removing the throughput limit, if you're not reaching it,
but won't make any difference.

Hi,
Also try setting "max-pending-submits" parameter to a higher values.

Found what some might consider a bug, but when an invalid system-type is passed
on an SMPP bind, it will retry based on the reconnect-delay setting. This
should be a stop failure and should work the same as an invalid
smsc-username/system-id or smsc-password. Where it does not retry... right?
Dear all,
Sorry for my confusing email before. I messed up my tests a little.
The tests I was talking about in the last email was with another smpp client
that was staying connected to smppbox all the time. This client has a low
upstream speed (1 sms/sec) and kannel/smppbox was handling it
Hi,
Use "pathchar" (Unix) or "pchar" (Windows) to map the throughput of each
link to your provider. Beware you should notify your provider beforehand, it
generates a lot of traffic.

Hi all,
wa are making a smpp connection from Oslo to a mobile operator in south
America with kannel, the connection is working ok now, and we are
sending and receiving sms, but the operator is asking for a better TX
rate, now we can send up to 25-30 sms per second, and we need to
increase it
No, but kannel is fully SMPP 3.4 compatible, SMPP is the most worked
protocol, and have not been any tickets about it lately.

Subject: SMPP Configuration with Clickatell
Hi,
Before start
Have you tried connecting/disconneting clients? You told me that smppbox
will disconnect specific clients as smsboxes from bb, when they disconnect.
What happens when the last one leaves? Smppbox will drop the connection? It
is supposed to send an smsbox disconnect to bb first. The error about b
It ll be good if you can provide some numbers of your client
throughput and server specs so we can have something to compare to.
Also maybe a top capture during stalls and out if it??

Hi Gjergji,
We have been connected, so I can confirm it is working.

Hi,
Before starting the configuration work, I just wanted to know whether
someone has configured Kannel SMPP gateway with Clickatell, whose API
acknolidges compliance with SMPP version 3.4.

Gjergji
I guess this means that a queue is in its place here.
I was hoping it wasn't necessary. but maybe we will have to end up with
another queue.
There's still a problem with this problem: I cannot reproduce it. I can load
my smppbox with any number of messages and no sign of stalling or broken
pip
Dear all,
I have been trying my system with the patch Rene sent me a couple of days ago.
In the begining I was getting the same very slow sms reception from
smppbox and the same error messages about the broken pipe. Then I changed the
behavior of my smpp client and got rid of the diconnect
