Hello, we have a custom user tracker cookie which is currently Base64
encoded and gets tacked along to each request in the access log.
We now have a new requirement to store the decoded value in the access log
instead.
So cookie gets written to the user's browser encoded, but when a user makes

Hello, is there an industry standard for acceptable % of Timeout related
failures on one's website ?
We have a server farm of 3 Apache RP proxying almost everything to the
back-end content and app farms of about 40-50 servers. The user base is
small but fairly active (about 2.5mil hits per day
ke to know that.
We are still trying to figure out a way so that F5s would retain the
original IP and not act like a Proxy. The Radwares it replaced did not do
that.

Why not? http://modules.apache.org/ - lots of modules - we have no

I have been using mod_proxy since the 1.3x version and am yet to see this
feature implemented in Apache. Why is it so difficult ?
We often expose new backend applications, scripts. content on a daily

Shawn, this does not make sense.
In the new server design you want:
ServerOld (https) IP Address 1
https://www.domain.com
ServerNew (http)IP Address 2
http://www.domain.com
So inorder for this to work, you will need to implement s
s to
your virtual in addition to the one above:
SSLProxyVerify optional_no_ca
SSLProxyVerifyDepth 1
The above tells mod_proxy that the backend may or may not present a valid
cert from a trusted CA !

We have a similar problem.
We have always been doing it the Virtual host way (virtual on port 80

I have:
