I am afraid you made a mistake.. This is the activemq mail list, not

Subject: Re: Migrate from HornetQ to ActiveMQ Artemis
Hi
I still recommend you updating your clients though. It should be
compatible at an initial point, but you should plan an upgrade on
these clients. the protocol compatibility will help you on an initial
moment, but you should plan the move gradually.

Hi Folks,
We have a bunch of legacy apps that send/receive messages using JMS with
HornetQ 2.4.0.
We wonder to what extent it is possible to migrate the HornetQ server to
ActiveMQ Artemis, ideally without changing anything other than the
configuration of these applications.

Artemis supports the HornetQ "core" protocol so all your existing HornetQ
applications should work out-of-the-box from that perspective.
However, JNDI is a different matter since the JNDI implementation has changed.
As you noted, Artemis doesn't use a server-side JNDI implementation (e.g. JNP).
You have them networked, not clustered. ActiveMQ 5.x doesn't support
clustering. it sounds like you want to use a master/slave pair instead:

Hi,
I have 2 activiemq services clustered, one of them is a master, and gets all
the messages.
But when there's a failure and the other one gets to be the master, I need
the messages from the 1st to be processed as well, means I need those
messages to be copies to the 2nd (the master now), assumin

Do I need to upgrade or uninstall and reinstall current ActiveMQ?

Messages exist one one and only one active broker at a time. If that
happens to be the one you shut down, that message doesn't exist until you
start the broker again.
Your question about why you aren't seeing the message on both brokers at
once sounds like you're still expecting clustering behavi

pretty much what I would do if there wasn't a script that did just that (a

do the right thing in the right order... and make sure all is done safely)

I am not sure how we would do the script.
I know there is a converting tool on master for when there is move to 2.x.
The export and import is part of the cli. And I believe the tool on master
(2.x) will automate that.

I had used client version 0.9.0. And I had used the JMSMessageID of an
incoming message.
I have redone my test with client version 0.11.0 and now the
JMSCorrelationID is set correctly !

Heh; I wrote this mail a few minutes before installing (and checking the
options of) 1.5.1; Indeed I noticed the options to detect network health.
Still thinking up how to setup the checks so they rightly determine the
network is ok or not, and not go down while, for example, "the other
