Checking for the skas3 patch in the host...not found
UML running in SKAS0 mode
Checking PROT_EXEC mmap in /tmp...OK

If you try the kernel, let me know if it works.

No. However, starting
I notice that in 2.6.9 and up, UML is built-in, and that said
built-in UML has SKAS support options.
Does this mean that these kernels also have the SKAS patch built-in
if compiled without ARCH=um?

Hi,
It has nothing to do with UML by itself. The module hostap_uml has been
modified in order to provide a realistic wireless interface to UML but it has
not been widely tested and it has bugs anyway which are completely independent
from uml. For instance, it *will* crash uml if you try to insert

I was asking about binaries.

I can't find out from their information what OS the root FS is. I
have little interest in working with a machine that doesn't have apt
or something comparable. D

Are you using tuntap or the switch daemon? If you are using the
switch daemon from the default debian u
i used a precompiled kernel and a root_fs from the
site:http://www.inma.ucl.ac.be/~guffens/uml-wifi/
this work well with FC2 but with FC4 it not work.
when i boot and then i modprobe hostap_uml it shows :
usermode:~# modprobe hostap_uml
Kernel panic: Kernel mode fault at addr 0x0, ip 0xa019a0d3
i compiled a uml kernel 2.4.24 on FC with gcc-4.0.0 and the compilation
hang. i searched in the web and i understand that the problem is the
gcc-4. thus i installed gcc-3.3.3 wich come with FC2.
the compilation succeed.
But when i boot it shows.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] linux-2.4.24]# ./linux ubd0=cow1,.
Host was same, ie uname: Linux ligur.student.mh.se 2.6.13.1-skas3-v9-pre7
#1 SMP Sat Sep 10 14:19:29 CEST 2005 x86_64 AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 244
AuthenticAMD
This time it even said in the boot log it ran in SKAS3. :-)
So, yes. I am pretty sure I've booted a slackware image in skas3 mode on

Use my 2.4.28-bs2 patch, on top of latest 2.4 (currently 2.4.31, soon 2.4.3

You didn't experience any bug maybe, but upgrading is still recommended. Be
aware that you'll likely need to update /etc/inittab if you disable

Sorry for spamming about gentoo.. :-)
I'm now stuck at getting a functional system up and running. The problem I
have is a catch 22: I cannot run an athlon-xp tarball in skas0 because it
complains with the dreaded "cannot set up LDT for thread-local storage",
and I don't want to run a tarball
