It depends on the image. If the image has a lot of detailed and mixed contrast, Marty's approach may be the best. However, if there is a dark area or light area, you want your type to be a decent contrast of that. A drop shadow on the text should work fine. I'm pretty sure you can apply a drop s

Hey Tim, I would make a soft-edged, white box and save it as a transparent PNG, then import that into LC and use then use the graphic settings to make it semi-opaque. Then place your transparent text field over the top and position those over your photo. Marty Knapp --
