Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg
I just updated my Lucid_AMD64 with the packages provided by xorg crack pushers.
I found out that there are two wrong dependencies in the package
"xserver-xorg_7.5+6ubuntu1~xorgedgers2~lucid_amd64.deb".
The wrong dependencies are:
xserver-xorg
Hi Bryce,
I wonder are those files you mentioned really needed.
This is a simple dependency problem in xorg crack pushers PPA, not in lucid
official repositories.
In the X Crack PPA,
package xserver-xorg (1:7.5+6ubuntu1) was built without renewed dependencies.
The drivers (xserver-xorg-video-* a
Hi Bryce,
Could you please give me a piece if information here.
Is it really the intention (if one upgrades a system with the packages of X
Crack Pushers) that packages
xserver-xorg-input-all and xserver-xorg-video-all and all the dependent drivers
of them are installed,
and thus without being

Hi José,
You may have already done this, but this may help
1) do not use xorg-server 1.9 (1.8.99...), NVidia proprietary dirvers do not
support it yet
2) reinstall nvidia-current_256.35_0ubuntu2
3) run in terminal: sudo nvidia-xconfig
Otherwise,

Please read through the bug #601220
It is also worth mentioning that arch-linux with the new cairo and with NVidia
graphics card and proprietary drivers do not show this color blend / gradient
regression. This seems to be ubuntu-specific issue.

Hi José,
The problem lies in the primary buffer (extracted from your xorg.log):

OK José,
The error text "failed to allocate primary buffer: out of memory" makes me
think this might be a kernel issue anyway.
Perhaps this bug started to affect you after a kernel upgrade (to 2.6.35-9 or
2.6.35.10).
You might want to try to boot with an older kernel (2.6.35-8 or older).

Yotam
You made this bug report against xorg, on the other hand you seem to believe
this is a nvidia driver issue.
However, on what grounds this is a nvidia issue?
The reason for incorrect rendering is cairo (package libcairo2) and
particularly its 1.9 branch.
In lucid we have libcairo2_1.8.10 wh
Yotam,
Thanks for Your reply.
That is the issue.
If nouveau would be as fast and fluently working as nvidia drivers (2D
acceleration), you would certainly see the sluggishness.
I have also seen this with open source radeon driver with ATI HD2600 pro
graphics card.

Hi there,
You have three options to go:
1) wait until nvidia-current_256.44 gets updated
2) downgrade xorg-xserver to 1.8.2 (the maverick older version or even
xorg-edgers lucid version)
3) try adding the following lines to xorg.conf (forcing nvidia drivers to obey)
and reboot:

Vipul,
Did you manually add the following necessary lines to the xorg.conf
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "ignoreABI" "True"
EndSection
And, do you use the latest nvidia-current_256.44-0ubuntu1 drivers?

Nvidia-settings actually should not set that option.
The option "IgnoreAbi" is in use now with xserver 1.9 because there are no
nvidia drivers around to fully support this new xserver.
So, IgnoreAbi is a workaround, not a fix.

Hi Jeff Craig,
NVidia proprietary drivers (nvidia-current) do not accept the new ABI, which is
required by the xserver 1.9 branch.
In order to avoid this you need to add the following lines to your xorg.conf.
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "ignoreABI" "True"
EndSection

Jeff,
Only Nvidia folks know that, like Aaron Plattner. Perhaps he could
comment this.
However, by applying the IgnoreAbi option we can make maverick boot again.
But there are a lot of other issues with the recent nvidia-current_265.44
drivers, that need to be fixed.
So this is only a partial or
