Public bug reported: The latest stable nvidia-current from Oneiric repos (280.13-0ubuntu1) hangs up my system. This happens every time I start synaptic. Then, if I try to close it, it won't close until the system asks to force quit it. Then, however, the whole system hangs (speeding up CPU). If I then try to shut down or reboot, I get a message saying terminal is not responding. So somehow terminal process does not appear to shut down.
This is easy to reproduce, as it happens each time I install nvidia- current_280.13. The previous version 275.09.07-0ubuntu4 works just fine. In addition to this, also the beta version 280.04 (from xorg-edgers) works OK. However, the later beta 280.11 will also hang up my system just like 280.13 does.
