The problem did not reappear since filing of the bug.
I booted the current daily trusty-desktop-amd64.iso - no stuck keys.
I get the impression that the described behaviour might be hardware related to
the Cherry Keyboard.

First of all, Thank you. But i have some questions
1. What do you mean unofficial? I downloaded it from the vendor's site.
2. And how can this be if the previous update were always working fine?
3. What is that module and how can it be built? Should i reinstall the driver?

That is what i was always doing!
After each kernel update i reinstalled the driver. The problem is that the
updated kernel doesn't even boot anymore.

sometimes two clicks for right mouse action work, sometimes not.
very few times the 3 finger middle mouse action work, even.

have update to 5.8.18-050818-generic, used the i2c-hid_standalone module.
this seems to work ok, will let you know if still issues with behaviour.

repo, but I switched back to regular Quantual repos and it kept

DVI, and HDMI), but they can only drive two simultaneous

Tested the solution from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8341194
not satisfying. Vol+/- keys do not cause notify-osd to do wild flickering
anymore but multiple key presses (raise/lower volume by 2 or more steps) are
not possible anymore.
Maybe the problem is not the xserver?
Ok, after hours i solved it by my own:
Connected my other Keyboard (logitech wireless): Logitech Multimediakeys
worked, Cherry got stuck.
Disconnected cherry and connected it to another USB-Port: Cherry keys work.
Reconnected Cherry to old Port: Cherry keys work.
