Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 15.04, with the latest updates as of this writing, logging
into my computer from lock (after about 8 hours of idle) the computer
randomly hangs, then xorgs proceeds extremely slowly. Whenever I open up
a new application, it takes a few minutes (freezing the entire computer
in the process), then after that it is very responsive for about 5
seconds, then really really slow.

The gnome-panel is completely frozen (panel with time and battery usage)
and calling "killall gnome-panel" results in "no such process" from the
terminal.

I will be willing to do a bit of extra debugging, if not too technical.
