I'm experiencing this issue (or something _very_ similar) in urxvt under
gnome-shell with nvidia-current 302.17-0ubuntu1~precise~xup2, whereas I
never noticed it when I was using Unity. I don't have compositing or
transparency enabled in urxvt. I don't recall seeing this issue with
gnome-terminal;
That didn't take long. Less than half an hour and I've already had the
same thing in gnome-terminal.

This is not fixed.
The issue with multiple keypresses generated by the Dell XPS M1330's
media keys is a hardware problem with the Dell laptop, and it is not
fixed. The media keys (volume adjustment, play/pause, stop, next, prev)
on the M1330 are touch-sensitive keys placed in a row above the norma

This isn't fixed. The problem is that the silly touch-sensitive media
keys on the m1330 act as though they were pressed for nearly 0.7
seconds, regardless of how long you actually touch them. You can work
around the problem by setting your typematic rate initial delay to 700
milliseconds or more. T

I don't think this is related to just the nv driver. I have the same
problems using the proprietary -nvidia driver. Could this be something
more generic or possible hardware related? I never had this problem in
9.04 or 9.10.

This same thing has happened to me more than once. I was just trying to
open OpenOffice and my X session stopped. I was left with a login
screen. As you can imagine, this is very annoying.
When I logged back in, I was left with the following in /var/log/syslog:

Well, I'm running Karmic Beta, and I dl/ed the 2.6.31-7-rt version of the
kernel.
I installed version 8.660 of fglrx.
I booted X, and X booted, but started in Metacity, w/compiz unable to start.
It seems like dkms didn't (or couldn't) compile an fglrx module for the rt
kernel, as I see none run

The webcam program Cheese is also impacted. According to a recent edit
to the AspireOne pages of the Ubuntu Community Docs :
"A workaround for this is to force it with xrandr --fbmm 195x113. This
can be made persistent by creating a script /etc/gdm/Init/:0 containing:

fails to build the module due to kernel changes removing the big kernel

I see the same corruption on a Gateway LT31 with the x1200. The
nomodeset workaround does address the corruption though the user is
without desktop effects.
Regarding #76, what is the best way to set this for a user's entire
desktop session?

I can also confirm that it occurs in Lucid, at least in an upgraded-to-
Lucid system. My original install on this system was 8.04, I believe. I
