affects me too on debian scratch/sid.
all the "fixes" from google appear to be disable nouveau (nomodeset) and
install the proprietary drivers, which isn't helpful.
i can still ssh into the box, but anything that was running a gui has
crashed (defunct), here's some output i got in dmesg:

as the package hasn't been updated in 8 months and i've only had the
problem the last few weeks.

i was up to kernel 4.0.5 and the debian installer from AmD site
installed the packages reporting successful. however, it was only
partially functional. when i updated, via the kernelupdater application
to the next kernel4.1.2 i got all kinds of errors and xterm offered an

I updated to the 3.19.0-26 kernel today and the fglrx-core package
failed to install when dkms tried to install it. Switching to the fglx
packages here in the proposed branch solved my issue. It would seem that
these packages need to be promoted from the proposed branch since others

This was my experience with a fresh install of 11.10 release version on GeForce
7300 LE :-
First login was fine, but graphical actions very sluggish (several seconds to
move a window). I presume this was the nouveau driver since it was not 2D
desktop.
When prompted to install a driver for the

I used the v86d framebuffer method to (sort of) fix that. But the none
working console issue is quite disturbing. I wonder if it is related to
the boot splash issue. IE some kernel mode that is borking something

Still have the antialiasing option turned off, so that could also have

I'm having the same problem. Emulate3Buttons does not work. I'm using
a logitech wheel mouse, part of the MX5500, so pressing the wheel
toggles the operation of the wheel itself rather than sending middle-
click. With Emulate3Buttons, I was happy enough.

I made a quick bash script for that command in /usr/local/bin. It
wasn't obvious to me how to launch it at startup... I found nothing for
that in the system settings menu. Then I tried the easy thing... search
for startup in the Unity dash. And Startup Applications Prefere
I know longer own this system, but the unit is owned by Canonical and
now resides in the Milbank offices. Chris Kenyon has this system and is
using it for demo purposes. I know he had someone install Oneiric on
the unit. but I did not hear the results of that installation or
testing.

FWIW my notebook has both a trackpad and a pointing stick, both with
their own buttons. The trackpad and buttons stops working, but the
pointing stick and its buttons continue to work.

Disabling “Disable touchpad while typing” in gnome-control-center makes
this go away. So not a display bug, but yes a gnome bug.
