Every time I reboot or log out and back in again, The layout of the displays is

Correcting the layout is a bit 'hit and miss' as the changed layout is not
always applied correctly.
There was a massive improvement after upgrading to 16.04 from 14.04.

nouveau.noaccel=1 does seem to be the workaround for lockup bugs in

This bug appears with several variations on a theme on several sites.
The most common workaround of adding nouveau.nofbaccel=1 to
/etc/default/grub as a kernel command line didn't work for me.
However
nouveau.noaccel=1
Has resulted in a stable PC for the last 24 hours which is a 3 year
record!
I have found that adding nouveau.noaccel=1 to the Kernel command line in
/etc/default/grub has solved the lockups. You may want to try.

Compiz crashes on my system when it is, so I get no unity when it is
installed, and slow to the point of unusable unity when I remove it.
Also tried using the latest version from amd.com but still no joy
