My 14.04 machine received the gcc update after the -116 update, just as others have noted.
I resolved this by booting into -112 then: sudo apt-get purge linux-headers-4.4.0-116 linux-headers-4.4.0-116-generic sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-xenial And then rebooted into -116 with everything working. I think this is easier and less likely to run into later problems than trying to manually rebuild DKMS modules.
