I have the same problem on Lenovo ThinkPad L530. Xubuntu 12.04 and also
on my actual Xubuntu 12.10 (3.5.0-17-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 9
19:31:23 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

sudo modeprobe -r psmouse

sometimes fixes the issue sometimes

I have not found any way how to solve this problem, The restart won't help
either.
Couple more restarts might helps.. if it is related with the heat then it makes
sense .. at least to me.

Mouse freezes from time to time. Th
This time with the kernel 3.7.0-030700rc2 it was even worst then before.
It works for a while (about an hour-two) then it freezes again. After the
restart the whole X session becomes unresponsive, second restart the same.
Now I'm back on the 3.6.2-030602-generic (this kernel change solved the iss

So what you want me to do is to install new mainline kernel and try it and send
the "apport-collect -p linux 1072672", right?

even the keyboard has been slow .. I don't know why but I have unplugged the
power supply and the mouse start working.

my Xubuntu turns out to be totally unstable, the wifi lost it's connection all
the time, and the mouse freezes as usual. So I'm now on Linux Mint Maya
{3.2.0-41-generic}. and the mouse freezes again constantly.
The problem is solved always by unplugging the AC adapter (it works just like

It seams to be stable, no mouse freeze and the wifi is extraordinary stable.
Will see how long it endures.

I'm afraid this test won't be any helpful, because the problem doesn't occur
immediately. Sometimes it shows up straight away, but sometimes it pops up out
of nowhere after month or so, that's why I takes me sooo long to post my
result, I have been checking it under all possible circumstances th

With the 3.10.0-031000rc1-generic kernel the Internet wired connection
is not found, the eth0 doesn't exist and so You can connect only over
wifi.
The 3.5.0-28-generic is just fine :) .. with the wired and wifi

I have updated the bios to 2.07
(The bios have no new settings according to any pointing device, and I hove not
noticed any new settings)
After couple restarts the mouse seams OK... but I haven't use it for more then
couple minutes yet.

The mouse does not freezes, for now.
I must say that I have been out of the house and used the touchpad for 3 days
before the BIOS update and it did not freeze either.
I do system updates every time they show up, so some of it might solved the
problem already... if it is really solved.

:/ still no luck.. the mouse froze again. This time also keyboard went half
useless.
After 4 restarts the problem persists. What helps always is just wait and wait.
Sometimes couple minutes sometimes way longer.
That is my last report.
(I went to google and there are many poeple sufferin
this gonna be funny ride :) How long we will play this game?
