The ability to offload rendering from one video card to another is
already implemented. It is called PRIME. The problem in your case is
that the open-source nouveau driver in Ubuntu 14.04 only has basic
support for your NVIDIA GTX 750 and needs you to extract the microcode

How did you install the AMD driver? Did you build the packages or use
the "update drives" app, or use the:
sh ./drivername.run
method.
For me only building the packages for my distro worked. The method is

Xubuntu 14.10 x64 on an Aspire One 722 (4go RAM - AMD series C-60). As you say
earlier, it's quite frustrating indeed : it's clearly related to fglrx and xorg
in some point, but I think it's not related to kernel : this netbook had a
fresh install not so long ago and so, started with a 3.16 ker
as mentioned above I enabled trusty proposed updates and then created
the proposed-updates file in /etc/apt/preferences.d

Pin: release a=trusty-proposed
Pin-Priority: 400
so far I have not seen the update on trusty 14.04 (3.16.0-34-generic
#47~14.04.1-Ubuntu)

Tested this x-x-v-intel 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.6 in my problematic Braswelll,
and it does fix the promotion video playback issue.
Also tested with other functions like rotation and external monitor,
they all work well.

apt-get fails to
Confirmed bug on Lenovo E550.
Prominently appears when plugging in an external Samsung S23C350 screen before
boot/power on however plugging it in once logged it. Thus far the bug has only
once occurred when the external screen is not plugged in.
