Adding the kernel option i915.reset=0 has brought no improvement.
I still have now several freezes once a day. (maybe more often as in the past)
I was not able to virtual terminal (CRTL-ATL-F1) or reach the system from
another pc remote.
The behavior was the same with kernel 3.8.2 and 3.8.3

its side. It's a bear running the mouse sideways.
raring i386 displays 1600x900 fine.
How do I get normal rotation? 800x600 displays with normal rotation but

X continuously freezing with /usr/sh
I've seen this as well lately. Today's lockup was followed by corrupted
display of some fonts in FIrefox as well as in the "System problem
detected" dialog.

Having similar issues in 12.10. Everything is frozen for a few seconds
and after that Ubuntu wants to send a bug report. dmesg shows hangcheck
timer for i915 elapsed.
