After updating to the latest packages in xorg-edgers, the KCM for the
touchpad crashes -- or, more precisely, causes a segfault 11 in
kcmshell4. I had to revert to an earlier version of the driver. Also,
tap-to-click doesn't work.

I didn't notice at least 1 time touchpad self-disabling, now that bug

Frequent freezes here, too. Complete new install, Core i5-3550 Ivy
Bridge, 16 GB RAM. Hard freezes, no more mouse pointer movement / no
Ctrl-Alt console. Hardware / memory is ok (24 hrs memtest done). Using
built in HD 2500 graphics.
With Kernel 3.3.6 (#91) still freezes, maybe less than before.

Unfortunately, all my attempts for fixing this properly have failed so
far, the hardware does not wants to collaborate with the software for
inter-ring synchronization.

With this new version I have no tearing on 1366x768, 1024x768, 800x600
fullscreen. But, of course, still have in windowed mode. I have rc6 enabled,
and there is tearing on top of the screen. With rc6=0 I have only one top pixel
line tearing.

I'd just like to mention this isn't just specific to i3, i5, i7
Ivy/Sandybridge etc. I'm seeing this on a 3Ghz Pentium 4 system +
nVidia.
Kernel 3.3.5 and 3.3.6 improved the problem no end but still getting hard
freezes as per my comment #27 with Unity 3D.

A quick update on post #49
I finally did get a freeze with the more up to date Intel driver in the
PPA. Though, it did take a lot longer to freeze than had been occurring
with the driver in the 12.04 repository. Another difference is that
instead of just a black screen with a cursor, I got a scree
19:52 < tkamppeter> mlankhorst, I had an old xorg.conf which defined only my
old 1680x150 Samsung monitor which dies a year
ago. Natty and Oneiric happily worked with my new Eizo with
1920x1080 and this file, Precise not. After
removing the file and movin
I have solved it now, but there is still a bug, as the transition to
Precise did not work automatically.

I'm running stock x64_64 12.04 and am affected by this. I reverted to
290.10 and the crashes stop but now flash videos have a blue tint (see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adobe-
flashplugin/+bug/967091). I have the blue tint issue in 11.10 as well.

Title
This bug was never solved even with the necessary information provided,
I changed(sold and bought an imac instead) the computer, so I cannot
test this anymore at that ubuntu version, neither at a current one;
seems pretty dead to me.
