or 4th May, and that solved it. I did not update the kernel when this
stopped happening, so the fix seems to be in userspace. No idea what to

from and have been testing on 2d for 2 days now, I haven't been able to

fglrx 2:8.960-0ubuntu1: fglrx kernel module failed to build

@Wal well I tried both of the precise version from #152 and #162 above
and it leaves my monitor stuck in 640 x 480 mode. Nothing appears to be
able to change this, including changes to xorg.conf and running nvidia-
xconfig . The latter says I'm not running an nvidia driver. So it's a
total bust

Sometimes Ubuntu shows the low-res boot screen without the dots moving
(forever).
But when my ubuntu box showed the screen that you attached when shutting
down, it doesn't take forever.
And after I removed the fglrx drivers the same problem persists.

I'm having this issue even though I don't have a nvidia card. This is an
HP Folio which uses the integrated Intel video card. After I installed
Ubuntu 12.04 (three days ago) it has happend three times.

I see the same thing on my Dell XSP 17 L702X. Also, comment #10 works
for me to fix it temporarily. However, there's a typo in the command.
Killing compiz is correct, with "killall -KILL compiz" (I only needed to
do it once), but you should restart it with "compiz --replace --display
:0" (N.B. the
