I realized its not the ubuntu problem or our problem. its the new drivers
problem. when i was using the last version of linux few days ago after
upgrading to the new nvidia driver i faced the same problem and i was not able
to use the unity 3D or Gnome desktop but after downgrade to the last ver
sudo apt-get remove --purge compiz-*
in case of not being able to do it from the installed grub it is possible to
use initiating from supergrub2

Hi, I have same problem using Nvidia Go 7300 with latest drivers in
precise. Relevant part of dmesg output follows:

upgrading of only the package libdrm-intel1 (with a few other required
by dependencies, including libdrm2
Folks, I simply erased the configuration forcing the system to create a
clean one:

Ctrl+Alt+F1
find X process and kill it:
ps -ef | grep X
Clear old configuration (all unity configurations will be lost)... I have a
really old user account, so, I found 2 different paths:

Doing certification testing on the Lenovo W510. During testing, I
closed the lid and re-opened. The system suspended. I pressed the
power button to resume and once it was awake again, the desktop was
present but not usable.
I can move the pointer around freely, but the poi
tagging as regression because this was not noticed with testing of
previous Ubuntu versions.

EDITORIAL: I have been a faithful Ubuntu user, debugger, participant for
years. It annoys me that the final release of 12.04 did not have a fix
for this NVIDIA issue. I understand NVIDIA is a proprietorial driver but
