issue since installation of Natty (also previously when i upgraded from

Thanks for posting that. A quick glance shows the 945G machine is very
different to the 915GM EeePC - it is using a 64 distro, has 4GBytes of memory
the screen resolution is 1920x1200 connected by VGA etc. The only commonality I
could see is that they are both ASUStek machines. Sigh.

Just an observation... In my dual boot environment (Windows7 and Ubuntu)
the longer I stay in Ubuntu without switching Windows the worse and more
frequent my video issues happen. Once I log into windows, even if just
for a minute, when I boot back into Ubuntu, I am then able to add a

Hmm, waiting a second between each window management keypress isn't
sufficient to avoid this issue. I got a crash with just one desktop
switch, invoked from the keyboard. I'm now trying to avoid *all*

The Debian bug reports seems to imply that upgraded NVidia drivers fix
the problem. But Ubuntu and Debian version numbers don't match in any
useful way that I could figure out.

I forgot to mention, that this problems also doesn't occur on another
Laptop (same local Installation of Ubuntu Natty) but with Intel 945GM
Express Chipset instead of Intel QM57 chipset for internal graphic. So
to me this seems to be related to issues inside the Intel graphics
driver.

Same problem here - only occurring since upgrade to Natty on Dell XPS
M1330 with Intel GMA. Seemingly completely random reboot of X, only I'm
not dumped to the terminal but back to the X login.
I'm using Gnome rather than Unity. I've attached a log showing the seg

The are both Kubuntu Natty using the Intel driver.
I could boot the 64-bit 945G with a 32-bit USB stick and see if that
helps.
And I could switch temporarily to a lower resolution, but not 1024x600 I
guess.
Actually the 64-bit machine has only 2GB of RAM not 4.
I'll report back with the results
I'd like to add that I too am using regular gnome (ubuntu "classic")
rather than unity. Unity doesn't perform well enough on my Thinkpad
x100e to justify its use (bloated software -- I'm not impressed).
Thankfully the old setup is still available. The Thinkpad X100e has a
mobile Radeon card in it b

If people really want progress, the Ubuntu devs have nothing to do with
it at the moment. nvidia-96 is the proprietary driver from Nvidia.
Until Nvidia releases a xorg 1.10 compatible version (as they have for
2xx+ and 173 series, Ubuntu can't really do anything (that I know of)
except providing s
