I have a ATI 3450 HD. The patched worked just fine, but yesterday updated
karmic packages and now I just get a flashing white screen on booting Ubuntu.
Begining to lose my temper in this situation. AMD drivers in linux are really a

from LiveCD til now (installed and upgraded system on hard drive) I'm

I also have similar problem, it's a single core system, xorg processes
uses all the idle CPU and desktop is quite slow to respond. I've
upgraded from jaunty (to karmic beta, to be more accurate: the state of

Just for record (may not be exactly this bug though). I tried
last weeks openchrome SVN trunk on Samsung NC20. Some videos
freezes the screen and computer. Is there anything I could help
with? Logs?

In general, xorg 100% cpu bugs are rarely actually X bugs. X is a
server process that serves client requests. Client applications can
send X an endless series of requests, and this will drive the X cpu
utilization through the roof, but it is the client application which is

Alvin, the Compiz update that fixes this problem was only available to
me when I reloaded and updated my system after reading your first
comment saying the problem wasn't fixed for you. Maybe if you try
updating again you'll see the compiz update come in?
