In intrepid, which is the version which the bug was filed against, the
issue is not resolved. By quick testing (meaning just installing and
watching what happens) the problem seems to be exactly the same. 2G of
RAM everything is fine. 4G never resumes.
In jaunty, again, nothing interesting happens
Hmm, on the next resume, the machine froze again. So this problem seems

One thing that seems very odd is that I left conky on the screen when I
shut-down the session.
With the old 2.4 intel driver [1] I get both suspend and video working
again.
I also tried the PPA 2.7.1-0ubuntu1~xup~1 [2] package with Option
"AccelMethod" "UXA" as described in [3] . Video playback worked, suspend
worked too, however resume would come back with a black screen.

I don't have enough trials to rule out coincidence, but it seems to
happen to me only when I have a web cam connected. I can't figure out
what the connection is, but I was experiencing the problem with one
camera, disconnected the camera and returned it because of unrelated

(i.e., *.ogg, *.flv, *.wmv) in any player (i.e., totem, vlc, mplayer,

Ahh its ok, that should have the same effect. How about if you delete
/etc/X11/xorg.conf entirely? xorg.conf is going away "real soon now", if
it works without it great, if not a simple little patch in the detection
logic for xserver to match 10DE 086x pci id's to vesa will do it.

It would be great if we could get this in, as it is one of our blocking
pre-req's for being able to do the next xserver merge (after which we
can rebuild/update drivers and move forward with various other packaging
tasks).

I updated my system to the latest drivers and X, and it works fine
(better then before to be sure).
No screen flicker. However, when I try to change the brightness through
the shortcut keys on my laptop keyboard, or through the brightness
applet in gnome, the screen flicker and CPU get high, but a
