Hi Christopher,
I'm still running some long simulations on my computer and haven't had the
chance to try out the new Ubuntu. However, in the meanwhile I was searching
around and saw that this (fixed) bug is a duplicate of the one I reported:

Daniel Reynolds, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/
Affecting Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, occurs randomly after resuming from sleep.
Symptoms are that desktop freezes for a second or two, then all
applications are killed and we're returned to the login screen.
