Now, after over two weeks of testing on different hardware I can confirm
that disabling polling fixes the problem and it does not bring any
problems for drivers that I've tested: i915, radeon (r200, r300 [tested
stable version in Maverick and git compiled packages from xorg-

patch could be proposed for kernel update as temporary fix or after more
testing of other drivers it could be set as default disable poll.

The patch, that Giacomo Perale posted on fdo bug 29389 with
drm_kms_helper.poll=0 kernel parameter fixes the problem for me also.
After over an ~2 hours of testing (1 hour of continous Nexuiz playing with
bots) no freeze or any graphic glitches. Tested on default Ubuntu 10.10 kernel
(2.6.35-22-g

pendrive before I'll upgrade from 10.04 and configure stable system at home.

I can't enable S-video output with KMS on RV350 card on Kubuntu Lucid.
I'm trying to enable S-video output with commands:
$ xrandr --output S-video --set "load detection" 1
$ xrandr --output S-video --set "tv standard" pal
$ xrandr
After remove nvidia-current package and reboot GL applications worked:
# LC_ALL=C apt-get remove nvidia-current

I'm getting the same errors after todays upgrade from Karmic to Lucid:

The bug still exists in (up-to-date) 9.10 Karmic but it's not Nvidia drivers
dependent.
Kdetv does not see any analog TV cards in opposite to tvtime or xawtv.
It has to be somewhere in QT3 libraries as the same Kdetv binary was used in
Kubuntu 8.10 and 9.04 and on 8.10 it worked but after upgrade
I've just updated kernel to 2.6.31-15-generic but the problem still
persists.

Todays (kernel?) upgrade fixed the 100% CPU used by Xorg but there's indeed
instability of intel driver (sometimes I can see drm error):

I can confirm the same happens on i865G with clean boot from LiveCD (build of
Kubuntu Karmic from 2009-10-05) and even clean install to hard disk (even
updated after install from this build).

I'm not sure if it's the same bug but I've just installed today's
(2009-10-05) Kubuntu Karmic cdimage on i865G hardware and since boot
from LiveCD til now (installed and upgraded system on hard drive) I'm
getting proper display on intel driver but Xorg eats ~100% CPU and even
text typing in Konsole
It looks like this bug still exists in updated Kubuntu Jaunty.
My card: ATI Radeon 9600 (RV350) using open source 'radeon' driver.
