only workaround is to copy the entire script locally and remove those 4

I applied (apt-get source, patch -p1, dpkg-buildpackage -b, dpkg -i) the

I am also affected by this problem.
After the boot splash, sometimes the screens turns black and stays this way, no
switching to TTYs is possible. Rebooting via powerbutton is possible. Most of
the time this bug does not happen but only sometimes.

Umm... I don't know about anyone else but I just installed
1:0.8.4-0ubuntu15.1 from lucid-proposed, and its not working. Same
problem, except mine is with dual monitors. I max at 2048x2048, and I
set my resolution to (total) 2048x768. Still getting "compiz (core) -
