After remembering the history around this bug, this looks much more like
a kernel bug than an xorg bug, as I've remarked the first black screen
after upgrading to kernel 3.8.0-17.

Same issue there with a Dell Inspiron 1525. Get black screen when X
should start, cannot boot anymore. However computer remains responsive
using SSH.
The issue is critical, as it prevents system from booting up correctly.
Hardware : Intel GMA945.
