I have 2 monitors and configured to have a workspace on the main
display.
I noticed that when I have one window open on the secondary display and
have windows (not fullsized) on different workspaces, they pulse when

I think you're right. I suspects its a driver/configuration thing. I did some
testing last month. After switching to discrete video mode (only nvidia gpu)
there were no more hard crashes, but it had its effect on battery life. Also
the system was not as consistent as I hoped. The combo intel/nvi
After main screen goes into "sluggish/IRQ spam" mode, I can close the
lid and work normally... until system goes to sleep. Unlock screen
doesn't go back on the HDMI screen. Opening lid does nothing.
Fiddling with Ctrl+Alt+Fx let me move to the console with a HUGE lag,
where I can log in and `sudo

Verified that I could reproduce the bug following the test plan in Ubuntu
22.04.5 LTS.
Installed xwayland=2:22.1.1-1ubuntu0.15.
Verified that I could not reproduce the bug anymore following the test plan: no
high CPU usage, and x11 apps still work as expected.

Thanks for the bug report.
The tearing issue is tracked in bug 1754284, but it sounds like you have
a workaround. We would prefer you used Wayland instead of Xorg though,
then tearing would never occur. Is there a reason you're using Xorg?
