Public bug reported:
The Ubuntu Error Tracker has been receiving reports about a problem regarding
xorg-server. This problem was most recently seen with package version
2:1.20.9-2ubuntu1.1, the problem p
Sessions generally can't quit themselves so this is probably a crash.
Please:
1. Uninstall any gnome-shell extensions you might have added, because
extensions are the most common cause of bugs.
2. Next time the problem happens, reboot immediately and then run:
journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt
The main problem is that upstream bug trackers (like all bug trackers)
really need the reporter of a bug to be someone who experiences it.
Because the process of fixing a bug is usually a two-way conversation.
There are so many different models of hardware in the the world that in

tool to confirm it!
Thanks for the link, I'll see if I can report it there.

Yes, libinput has "palm detection" which sounds like the problem here.
Try this:
sudo apt install libinput-tools
libinput measure touch-size
But regardless, please also report the bug upstream at:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/groups/libinput/-/issues
and then tell us the new issue ID.
Public bug reported:
I don't know if this has to do with libinput, I'm just guessing.
When using a 2012 Macbook Air the trackpad regularly stops tracking
individual finger movements during use (the cursor stops responding to
movement). Once I lift my finger and once again touch the trackpad it

It sounds like something is crashing or spinning. Also the attached Xorg

There are two known causes of this:
