I have been using 14.04LTS 64bit since launch, and was not initially

This bug is actually false. The problem vanished after I updated the
BIOS of my motherboard. The BIOS version on the board at that time was
quite old.

keyboard problem on LG E200
I have found that a workaround is to press Ctrl-Alt-F1 for a terminal
login, login as root and do:
service lightdm restart
This will invoke the graphical login screen, and I can log in as usual.
