I get the same error when running the "trackballs" program, which might
be easier to investigate since it's freely available.
Is there anything else I can do to shed light on this? Additional
tests I could run? Problem is 100% repeatable.

Same thing on a customer's machine with an AMD athlong 64 X2 4000+ and a 8400gt.
It's using proprietary driver.
Strange thing : If I change ACPI Suspend Type from S1&S3 to S1(POS),
then it goes to sleep (with a strange signal to monitor) then comes back
without problem.

This problem didn't exist with Ubuntu 12.04.
I upgraded to 14.04. Now each time the system goes to sleep, I can't wake it
up.
The machine looks normally sleeping (led flashes) but no reaction with mouse or
