Same thing on a customer's machine with an AMD athlong 64 X2 4000+ and a 8400gt. It's using proprietary driver.
Strange thing : If I change ACPI Suspend Type from S1&S3 to S1(POS), then it goes to sleep (with a strange signal to monitor) then comes back without problem.
