So there is small black blinking cursor in a top left corner and pointer also
blinks as in refresh at the rate of 1 second..

Experienced complete freeze on Dell E6510 laptop a few times now, Ubuntu

Hmm, just seems a bit wasteful, as there are at least two other bugs
that describe this problem, and this one is already open, is the reason
behind this that reporting a bug includes reports from my laptop, which
will change when the ppa is removed?
Or i guess because everyones set up is a little
just a try, run:
synclient -l | grep -i "TouchpadOff"
from treminal, and if it returned:
TouchpadOff = 1
then your touchpad is disabled, just enable it by running:
synclient TouchpadOff=0

And yes, the workaround posted in comment #14 fix the issue. I've put it
in a shell script and execute it when I plug the headset. We can also
create a udev rule to execute the script right after plugging in the
headset, right? :-)

Note: The mentioned workaround did not work for me, and i have also
encountered IPEHR 0x0100
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/978968), even
without suspend to disk/ram. LibreOffice spell checking appears to
trigger the problem sometimes.

Rebooted, back at low graphics warning, i guess when i choose
reconfigure it undoes the aticonfig initial and switches off the driver,
i chose continue in low graphics for one session, it took me to cli, so
i just reconfigured again. Using generic whatevers, not the backed up
settings

After the linux-headers-3.5.0-17-generic installed and reinstalled fglrx
fglrx-amdcccle, system is able to boot to desktop without problem.
I see there're two problem.
1. It seems linux-headers-3.5.0-17-generic is not installed by default
2. The fglrx package finishes installation without the nece
I enabled the first fglrx driver with joxkey text -e, no change, the output of
the above command is the same

Low graphics mode in Hybrid AT
Glad it works for you.
Can you please select the integrated gpu by giving this command:
sudo amdconfig --px-igpu
do 2-3 reboots and report if it works?
