Just tried the Fedora 15 LiveCD, it also exhibits tearing when playing
the test clip from post #38. If the cause is the same, then Ubuntu is
not the only distribution affected.

I tested again with the latest (275.09.07) proprietary drivers today
(compiled on 11.04 from the 11.10 source packages). They exhibit
exactly the same tearing problem. None of the usual workarounds solve
it completely. The only thing that does work is disabling the composite
extension in xorg.co
Not reproducible since updated. Seems fixed.

Same here, with the "Caught signal 3 (Quit). Server aborting". Never
had the problem in Maverick. It does seem to happen when pressing
Enter, and only once per session. It didn't happen in the first month
or so that I was using Natty on this laptop, though...

@Jean: So as I understand it you were unable to tell whether you were
getting the oops or not? Did you check your kern.log to see whether or
not it appears when booting with the bisect007 kernel?
For now I'm going to wait and see if we get some more testing on this
one.
