Just thought I'd mention last night I installed 12.10 Quantal
pre-alpha from the testing site on my spare HDD. Works just fine for now.

I've installed Xgnokii from the Ubuntu Software centre, hopefully to

It's installed OK but when I click the icon nothing happens except a
very faint splash screen in the middle of my screen that just disappears.

I forget to mention that the connection from the routers to the PCs was
by wireless. To add another bit of information the PC running Xubuntu
was tried with a wired connection to the router and the BB speed was 8.2
mbps.

I don't know anything about the program itself, but as for finding the
installation directory you could run 'whereis xgnokii' which should show you
where the executable with that name is stored.
If that doesn't work there's also 'locate xgnokii' which should show the
position of any files and di
