Hi James. For what it is worth I had a similar problem with 12.04 and 12.10 and found the only solution was to reinstall 12.10 and refrain from doing any updates. 13.04 works OK with all updates loaded, but I used both with a Ubuntu One link as security until I was sure. Regards, Martin Dixon
