Panic over, thanks. I looked more carefully at the settings and, lo and
behold, there was an entry for Ubuntu 11.10 CDROM and it was ticked.
Some Gremlin must have been busy behind my back.

Settings are all as they should be. The only connection this computer
has with Ubuntu 11.10
