I've been testing both, Ubuntu Server and Debian in VM's to make a decision for
installation for a production server.
One of the tests I ran was exactly this: Using mirroring for all of the
system's partitions, including the OS.
I reproduced exactly
DO :
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install samba libpam-smbpass
verify that your are in the group named sambashare. In terminal type
"groups" if not go to user.group management and yourself to this group
(samba share)
after that, logout and login

I just took the plunge and upgraded from Gutsy to the latest pre-release
version of Hardy. Overall it fixed a bunch of problems for me and I'm
delighted with the new version. I did run into one issue that caused
some problems though:
After I had upgraded
With firefox running,

The last part of this is a wpasupplicant bug. The ordering of the
shutdown scripts is already well-established, and unmounting remote
filesystems takes place at S31 (S31umountnfs.sh). wpasupplicant needs
to be fixed to run its shutdown script later than this; probably at S35

Are you sure? That's the only case in which I can reproduce the
behavior you describe.
If I set 'client plaintext auth = yes' in /etc/samba/smb.conf without
also setting 'client lanman auth = Yes'

What do you mean when you say the folder contents "could not be
displayed"? Were you given an error message? Did the share open in
nautilus but give you an empty file list?

Also I see that in the new version my syslog is filling up with these
kernel messages (4 every minute):
usb 2-1: usbfs: process 6437 (megatec_usb) did not claim interface 0 before use
It looks like I am having the problem of it not getting battery
percentage either, I guess I spoke too soon on it
I guess I'd better open a new bug for this, right?

The new package seems to be almost working, but the driver says it can't

Thunderbird forwards fine (well, as long as it isn't open on the remote
