There was an Ubuntu phone before this one that hit the market? Which market?

Currently, there needs to be a build of CyanogenMod 10.1 available for your
device in order to port Ubuntu Touch to it. You can check which devices are
supported by CyanogenMod here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Devices#vendor=

If that means (as it appears) that Netflix won't be available on Ubuntu
phones or tablets, that's unfortunate.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

I think that of phone manufacturers are paying Canonical for exclusive
scopes, the scopes should stay exclusive. The OS should be open source and
generally available, but there needs to be an incentive to phone
manufacturers to carry the OS on their phones, and custom-made extensions
to the OS (e.g

I'm running Ubuntu Touch on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. In the daily

Just out of curiosity, why isn't an e-reader a "core app" for Ubuntu Touch?
It may not be a basic function on a phone, but it certainly seems to be a
"must have" for a tablet. Is there anyone working on this?
The "document viewer" app included in the core apps doesn't seem to fit the
bill, at lea

I have another follow-up question. For some apps (e.g., an e-reader, once
we get one), it would be useful to have the ability to lock the
orientation. Will that functionality be built into the SDK?
Also, does anyone have any idea when Ubuntu Touch will be able to respond
to the orientation of the

Right now, there is no Dalvik machine included in Ubuntu Touch, so no.

I haven't seen an e-reader app yet. I had started working on one, but ran
into the problems noted by Stuart Landridge. From the discussion on the
mailing list here:
https://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone/msg01530.htmlit appears that
there has been at least some discussion among the
developers abo
I would expect that we would start seeing cheaper phones that could handle
Ubuntu Touch by the end of the year. You may also be interested in this

It's a wiki; if you have a launchpad account, you can create the entry

A few months ago I did a port for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (based
partially upon the work of others). It worked well enough that I posted the
wiki entry in the "devices" section (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices/p3110) and listed it as a working
device.
