Morning all, here's a bumper update covering the last couple of weeks
in Core Apps!

As we lead up to RTM we're landing the final features and fixing bugs
for the images at the end of the month. We're keen for users of Ubuntu
to beat heavily on the core apps and report issues where appropriate.

We've been working hard this week to reduce the number of outstanding

A short post-release week left us with slightly less activity than
earlier weeks. David took this opportunity to fix the build setup for
some apps. We updated all the apps in the store, which helped us
thoroughly test the changes made as we went through that process.

After a long weekend away from the computer, it's time for a regular
core apps update!
I guess everyone heard by now that Ubuntu 14.04 LTS shipped on
2014-04-17. This included an image of Ubuntu for phones and tablets
with our core apps baked in. Last week we pushed a few last minute

Another week closer to 14.04 and we've been pushing hard to get any
outstanding merges landed. We are addressing UI and usability bugs
which have cropped up in dogfooding. As always we welcome feedback,
fixes and favor. The train will keep rolling after 14.04 is out
though, and we will be deliverin
This week we streamlined the core app upload (to store) and approval
process. Previously we had up to ~8hr wait times between upload (by
one person) and test & approve (by another). Now we grab the click
packages on-demand from jenkins, test and then signal to an uploader
to upload, and the approva
Last week we had another round of Core Apps Hack Days. In the past
we've used these as a means to focus attention on a set of critical
bugs for release, as well as bitesize bugs for new developers.
This time around there's been a lot of focus on bug fixing (as you'll
see below) and polish. There i
