This occurs to me on latest 14.04 64 bit with all updates. Tracker
refers me to duplicate https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/software-center/+bug/1102389 by default.
Nothing special happening cannot install software via center.

Whilst it may be more of a lacking feature than a bug it will also be
necessary for windows 8 and the new boot requirements.

Much like the secure boot fiasco with windows 8.
If we tamper(adjust) with the MBR of a novice user and reduce the
functionality of their machine without their knowledge I think that is a
failure on our behalf, not a bug in windows.

i had thought this bug was related to ATI drivers, as my gnome shell is
corrupted and this is a known ATI driver issue which was supposed to be
solved in the latest ATI 11-9 catalyst.
