Add yourself to the video group...I have the same card, fresh intrepid
installall I did was that and it works(for me).

It could be the way amule was coded...it uses Input Boxes to display
text messages...The only way to see those messages is to open System ->
Preferences -> Appearance -> Customize -> Colors -> Input Boxes -->>
change the color from white to something a little darker...don't make it
too dark as this
