thanks for your response. this problem is not reproducable with a fresh user account. but thie wrong keybindings are also present when i start gedit as root (sudo gedit). by the way, my installation of intrepid is a upgrade from hardy. even when i enable 'Editable menu shortcut keys' in Menu > S
